About Officina

Officina Publishing Services Ltd (Company number 16736861) was set up in September 2025.

Its director, S J M Watson, has decades’ worth of experience in many different areas of book production, including editing, layout, cover design and copy-writing.

Our belief is that by leveraging technological advances we can make book production workflow more efficient than ever. In this way, authors and publishers will have access to a service that is both high-quality and cost-effective.

About the name

The name ‘Officina’ (Latin for ‘workshop’ or ‘studio’) is a nod to the the great French scholar-printer Robert Estienne (1503–1559), who serves as an exemplar for all those working in book production. Here is one of his title pages:
